Safety Skills

Page Status: Reviewed

Description: This category comprised a broad range of skills across the age spectrum.  The lack of some skills dramatically effect the quality of life and access to conditions of reinforcement.  However the teaching of safety skills may also result in the clinician exposing the individual to increased risks of harm.  The potential risk of harm should be weighed carefully and objectively prior to implementing programming ins this domain

Standards of Practice : These  will specified in each sub-domain as each skill may present unique risks and make require extraordinary safeguards.

Teaching of community   personal and sexual safety should only be undertaken by those with specialized training and expertise in those areas.

Behaviorpedia strongly recommends that less experienced clinicians seek out those in the field with greater levels of expertise and consult with them as appropriate.
